RTÉ Radio audience increases

Irish public broadcaster RTÉ says it’s pleased with the latest Joint National Listenership Research (JNLR) figures which demonstrate that strategic schedule changes are paying dividends.

Managing Director of RTÉ Radio, Adrian Moynes said: ”I’ve always said we’re in this for the long haul. RTÉ Radio made strategic changes last year on RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ lyric fm, and earlier this year on RTÉ 2fm. The initial signs are that listeners are welcoming those changes. We are determined that this pattern will continue.”

RTÉ Radio broadcasts 9 out of the Top 10 most popular national radio programmes, with RTÉ Radio 1’s leading programmes all making gains compared to the last set of figures. RTÉ Radio 1 has also seen growth in weekend listenership for sport and for the arts, features and drama.

RTÉ 2fm has seen increases throughout the entire schedule, and its daytime share in Dublin increased by 2% points.
