SATURDAY 27 OCTOBER
*** The State We're In ***
This week on The State We're In, the show about human rights and human wrongs:

We talk to Sudanese billionaire Mo Ibrahim, the man with the mission and the money to revolutionise government in Africa.

Plus we ask why we're so ready to misbehave in cyberspace and
an eight-foot female elf hunter from the World of Warcraft tells us why the virtual world is so appealing to real people.

And we peer behind the veil of some of the globe's most isolated countries: we find out what the North Koreans know about the outside world and meet the artist who painted a thousand canvases using soap and syringes while in a Burmese prison.

That's The State We're In, this weekend on Radio Netherlands Worldwide.

SUNDAY 28 OCTOBER
*** Amsterdam Forum ***

Topical, interactive debate, with Barry Thorne and Fiona Campbell

This week, a special one-hour debate:

"Can there be justice for the victims of Darfur?"

The conflict in the Sudanese region of Darfur simmers on - so far 200,000 people have been killed and 2.5 million have been displaced because of fighting between the Sudanese government, Janjaweed militias and rebel fighters. Meanwhile, thousands of miles away the International Criminal Court in The Hague is trying to assemble evidence to convict those responsible for these grave crimes.

This week, in a special extended edition of Amsterdam Forum we're joined by two experts from Sudan to hear the experiences of people on the ground and we cross-examine the person in charge of securing state cooperation in the ICC's office of the prosecutor.

But there's more than that. We are also bringing you political and scientific stories as long as they are ...Curious. Give us a half hour and we'll give you the weekly low down on the low country.

This week on Curious Orange:

Are the Dutch globally minded or are they like villagers in one of the smallest countries in Europe. What really is the Dutch identity?

And will evolving technology provide us with robots as our lovers and our sex partners?

*** Radio Books ***

A series of short stories by Dutch and Flemish writers in English translation - an initiative of Flemish-Dutch Huis de Buren in Brussels in association with the Flemish radio broadcaster Klara and Radio Netherlands Worldwide.

This week: "There was once..."

Tjitske Jansen's work often looks at the world through a child's eyes, and her submission for Radio Books is no exception. There was once... is composed of brief segments, apparently unconnected or loosely connected elements that are childhood memories and observations, leading us through her adolescence and later teenage years, with humour and a poet's eye for the small tragedies of love.
