Tomorrow, Saturday 24 November, there will another test transmission from the shipborne transmitter of Dutch regional commercial station Radio Waddenzee. The test will take place on 1602 kHz between 1200 and 1600 UTC. The station says that last week’s test was successful. We’ve seen reports that in some locations the signal was stronger than the normal transmitter in Pietersbierum. Maintenance work will be carried out on the regular transmitter while the shipborne transmitter is on the air.

Dutch regional commercial broadcaster Radio Waddenzee, based in Harlingen, Friesland, is currently on the air on 1602 kHz from a transmitter on board its vessel Jenni Baynton, the former lightship “Light Vessel Number Eight”. During this time, the regular mediumwave transmitter in Pietersbierum has been switched off. Broadcasts from the ship began at 1200 UTC and will end at 1800 UTC. This is a test transmission to check out the coverage of the shipborne transmitter, and reception reports are welcomed to info@radiowaddenzee.nl.
